iBeam allows you to instantly "beam" (send) contact information and photos directly to another iPhone over wifi or to any other device via email. iBeam fills the need of many iPhone users by allowing them to instantly "Beam" contact information or photos directly to each other. Currently iPhone users have to type in or write down contact info and it can be frustrating. Other smart phones have had "beaming" ability for years and until now it was lacking on the iPhone.

iBeam now has 2 methods of sending contact information.

1st - Beam Contact (iPhone to iPhone over wifi.)
This will require both iPhones to have iBeam installed and both iPhones will need to be connected to the same wifi network. This will allow for direct instant transfer of contacts and photos between the 2 iPhones.

2nd - Email Contact (using vCard)
This method converts your contact information into a vCard and allows you to email it to anyone on any device with an email. It does not require you to be on the same network, nor the receiver to own an iPhone. If you do email a vCard to another iPhone, they will be able to open it and add it to their contacts.

iBeam is great for quickly sharing contact information with business professionals or a new friend.

iBeam settings allows you to turn off certain information from being "beamed". You can prevent certain types of contact information such as "Home, Work, Mobile, Photo, etc" from being sent.

More useful features are currently planned for iBeam and we welcome any feedback from the community to improve the software.

Pros and cons of iBeam app for iPhone and iPad

iBeam app good for

I just installed it and tried it out. It works perfectly between my touch and my iPhone. Thank you so much!
There was only one way in which I felt my Treo was superior to my iPhone - its ability to "beam" contact info. Thankfully, this is no longer an issue. Thanks, iBeam!
Nice vcard .vcf sender but does not help if your end users email does not support .vcf vcards. Wish they would add the option to send as text and picture format.
I did not test the email function, but used it with my wifes iphone and mine over same wifi network. Found each other instantly and easily and quickly transferred a contact and a picture. worked perfectly
Beaming pictures, Addresses could not be easier and quicker. Downloaded software on 2 phones and in less than 5 minutes my wife and I had exchanged dozens of photos and addresses. Bravo
I just sent my wife a bunch of contacts and it saved so much time rather than entering them manually. Also sent a bunch of photos of our kids to her iPhone. Very easy to use and very quick an snappy.

Some bad moments

Vi darò 5 stelle appena ci sarà lupdate per scegliere più contatti da mandare nella stessa vcard! Ill give you 5 stars only when the next update will improve the selection of more than one contact to send with the vcard!
This is a great idea, but its very difficult to figure out and use. It took 5 minutes to figure out how to send a contact suing I dont know how many taps on buttons. I could write it on a piece of paper faster! :-)
Havent tried it wifi but it doesnt work through email. I keep getting no information message when it downloads.
The idea is good: use an iPhone to xfer photos, contacts, etc. Sadly, the implementation is weak. The app becomes unresponsive when connected to another user who is trying to send something (or a least thats how I perceive it). Also: the UI is weird and unintuitive. Again, whats this business about being connected? Anyway, the concept is a good one. Maybe further revisions will smooth out the rough edges.
Great idea! Only problem is that it cannot find other users on the same wi-fi network, nor can it send contact cards via email. Thank all the gods I didnt pay money for it (because Im looking for something that does this-- and would have paid for it). I will happily post a retraction if this program is made to work.
Downloaded and tried to send a picture from contacts. Said that email was no good.
